- What are the current priorities of the MFA’ work ?

- The main priority in our foreign-policy activities is insuring a well-deserved place for Republic of South Ossetia in the world. However, success in foreign-policy work is closely connected with dynamic development of the state itself, therefore we should make everything possible to improve the image Republic of South Ossetia and make it as attractive as possible for building up wider relations with other countries of the International Community.

On 8 November 2013 a working visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia D.G. Sanakoev took place to Italy. During the meeting the Minister carried out a range of meetings with representatives of political and civil organizations of the country, at the meetings were discussed issues of mutual interest.

On 25th round of Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia

On 5-6 November 2013 another session in the frame of international discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia took place in Geneva. At the meeting participated delegations of Republic of South Ossetia, Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, Russian Federation, United States, representatives of EU, OSCE, UN. South Ossetia delegation was headed by Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy on post conflict resolution Murat Jioev.

On 14 October 2013 Head of Official Representation of Republic of South Ossetia in Pridnestrovie S. Sugaro met with the newly appointed Head of Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in Republic of South Ossetia E. Kochiev.

During the meeting S. Sugaro and E. Kochiev expressed their mutual interest in further development of cooperation between the Representations to improve their future work.

In the end of the meeting E. Kochiev left a memorable record in the book of honored guests.

Tiraspol, 14 October 2013

On 8 October 2013 Head of the Official Representation of Republic of South Ossetia in Pridnestrovie S.V. Sugaro and his Deputy C. Yu. Myasnikov participated in the reception on the occasion of the 605th anniversary since foundation of Bendery city. The event was organized at Bendery city Administration.

Statements of NATO, US and European structures, made almost at the same time, express concerns about the border arrangement measures taken by authorities of South Ossetia along the state border line of South Ossetia and calls upon Russia to review recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia are meant to meet expectations of Georgian society.

On 2 October 2013 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia Alan Kochiev received Counselor of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Republic of South Ossetia Marco Gil Casanova and First Secretary of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Republic of South Ossetia Maria Gabriela Ruis.

On 1 October 2013 a working visit between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia David Sanakoev and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Abkhazia Vyacheslav Chikirba, in the frame of the official visit of the delegation of Republic of South Ossetia to Republic of Abkhazia, took place at the MFA of Republic of Abkhazia. At the meeting participated Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Republic of South Ossetia in Republic of Abkhazia Oleg Botsiev and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Abkhazia Irakli Khintba.

On September 2013 Head of Official Representation of Republic of South Ossetia in Pridnestrovie Sugaro S.V. participated in the reception organized on the occasion of the Independence Day and 20th Victory Day of Abkhazia. The reception that took place at the Representation of Republic of Abkhazia in Tiraspol.

Contribution of people of South Ossetia to Victory of Abkhazia was highly evaluated at the event and was reflected in the book of memories at the Representation.

On the situation at border with Georgia

During the recent days a provocative hysteria, generated by the Georgian leadership and their western partners, is observed in the area of state border of Republic of South Ossetia with Georgia.

South Ossetia was bewildered by the Statement of the MFA of Georgia and further declarations made by US Ambassador in Georgia Richard Norland and EU Commissioner for enlargement and European neighborhood policy Stepan Fule on arrangements carried out by the South Ossetian side along the state border between South Ossetia with Georgia.

A meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia David Sanakoev with President of Italy-South Ossetia Friendship Society Professor Mauro Murgia took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia on 18 September 2013. At the meeting participated another member of the Italy-South Ossetia Friendship Society Mr.Giorgio Lorezi.
