On 14 May 2014 Republic of South Ossetia was visited by Co-chairman of Geneva Discussions on Peace and Stability and Transcaucasia. The delegation met with South Ossetian participants of the Geneva Discussions headed by Presidential Envoy on Post-Conflict resolution M.K. Jioev.
During the meeting were discussed issues related to 28th round of Geneva Discussions planned for 17-18 June 2014.
The participants underlined again the importance of a legally binding document on nonuse of force to be signed between Georgia and South Ossetia as well as the need in joint work on demarcation of the state border line.
The Co-Chairmen were also informed about introduction of new permits that allow to cross state border between South Ossetia and Georgia in a simplified manner.
The sides noted the importance of the IPRM that facilitates effective resolution of issues related to security in the bordering regions. Above that were discussed humanitarian topics.
South Ossetian side emphasized questions related to persons missing in action, citizens of South Ossetia illegally convicted to in Georgia and possibility for mutual release of the prisoners.
After the meeting the Co-Chairmen met with South Ossetian human rights activists and relatives of citizens of South Ossetia convicted in Georgia.
