On January 12-15, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Republic of Nicaragua Narim Kozaev visited to Republic of Nicaragua.
In 2023, in accordance with the designated tasks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its foreign agencies continued their work to defend and promote national interests of South Ossetia, to strengthen and develop mutually beneficial cooperation with the states with which South Ossetia had established diplomatic relations, as well as to expand international contacts.
December 22 saw a friendly online rapid chess tournament held between junior chess teams of South Ossetia and Nicaragua.
The South Ossetian Foreign Ministry was initiator of the online tournament, which was organized at the premises of the Russian House in Tskhinval.

On December 12, in framework of the working visit to Moscow, the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev participated in the solemn ceremony of honoring one of the most outstanding representatives of the Ossetian nation, Army General, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Issa A. Pliev. The event was organized in connection with the 120th anniversary of Pliev’s birth and was held in the Hall of Glory of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, located on Poklonnaya Hill.
