On the exchange of congratulatory letters between Foreign Ministers of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War

Akhsar Dzhioev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, and Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, exchanged congratulatory letters on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

In his address Akhsar Dzhioev, in particular, emphasized:

“The sacred Day of the Great Victory has a great force to unify many peoples and generations. This is the day of enduring glory, military and civil valor, fortitude of multinational Soviet people, who stood side by side in the hardest struggle against fascism.

In modern world, when attempts are made to distort our joint history, each of us has the duty to be a decent descender of the victorious generation, to preserve and to pass to new generations the truth about the Great Feat of the nation and to cherish the memory of those, who heroically fought at the front and selflessly forged victory in the back.”

Sergey Lavrov’s address, in particular, reads:

“The 9th of May is one of the most significant dates in history of the Russian-South Ossetian relations. The unprecedented courage and heroism of the Soviet soldiers and home front workers, who defended the freedom of Motherland, even today serves as an example for our peoples, who build a common destiny in close alliance.”
