On May 8-9 solemn events, dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, were held in the Republic of South Ossetia.
On the eve of the Victory Day, the Garland of Glory and Memory was laid at the monument to the fallen in the Great Patriotic War at the Alley of Glory in Tskhinval. The participants of the ceremony laid wreaths and flowers at the Eternal Flame and observed a minute of silence in memory of those who died on the battlefields during the Great Patriotic War.
The official unveiling of the monument to Vladimir Iosifovich Lokhov, Soviet-Russian intelligence agent, native of South Ossetia, took place as well.
A memorial plaque in honor of evacuation hospital №1960, which was deployed on the territory of the school during the Great Patriotic War, was opened on school №3.
On May 9, in commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a military parade and the “Immortal Regiment” mass march were held at Tskhinval central square.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev and officers of the Ministry participated in the events.
