On February 24, an enlarged format meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of South Ossetia, organized in connection with the situation in the Donbas and the special military operation announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia A.I. Bibilov.
By order of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated January 10, 2022, a citizen of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Turkey Hosity Burhan (Canpolat Burhan) was appointed Plenipotentiary Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Republic of Turkey.

Lavrov exchanged letters of ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance of September 17, 2008.
January 19 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the first referendum on the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia. Thirty years ago, the people of South Ossetia took a fateful political step towards the formation of their statehood. The holding of the referendum became a great holiday for the people of South Ossetia.
On December, 20 Sochi hosted a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia D. N. Medoev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S. V. Lavrov.
On December 14, within the frameworks of the working visit of the delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Donetsk People’s Republic, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia DmitriiMedoev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic Natalia Nikanorova.
During the conversation, the meeting participants discussed topical aspects of bilateral relations and regional issues.
On December 7-8, 2021, the regular round of International Discussions on Security in the Transcaucasus, held on the bases of the agreements adopted on August 12 and September 8, 2008, took place at the Geneva Palace of Nations. The negotiations were attended by delegations from the Republic of South Ossetia, the Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, the Russian Federation, the United States, as well as representatives of the EU, UN and OSCE.
The work took place in two groups: on security and on humanitarian issues.

On December 3, Dmitrii Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, met in Istanbul with Sadrettin Kusaty, the Chairman of the Ossetian Society «Alan» in Turkey and activists of the organization.
