On September 30, the official delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia, headed by President Alan Gagloev, participated in the solemnities, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Victory Day and Independence Day of the Republic of Abkhazia.
The South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev was among the members of the delegation.
The solemn events started with flower-laying ceremonies to the 1992-1993 Abkhaz Patriotic War Memorial raised in the Park of Glory in Sukhum and to the memorial to Vladislav Ardzinba, the first President of the Republic of Abkhazia, raised in Lower Eshera village.
Military parade, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Victory in the 1992-1993 Abkhaz Patriotic War, was held at the Square of Freedom in Sukhum. The banner unit and ceremonial squad of the battalion of special forces of the South Ossetian Ministry of Defense participated in the parade.
Hundreds of participants of the “Immortal Regiment” action walked along the Square of Freedom, holding photos of their close relatives who had died during the war with Georgia.
The opening of a new bridge across the Basla River was held in Sukhum as well.
