On August 6, 2024, the Kiev regime launched a massive terrorist attack against Kursk Region of Russia, with AFU units supported by armored vehicles going on the offensive to take over a part of territory of Sudzhansky district. These criminal actions have claimed human lives, including those of civilian population, and resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure.
Russian military together with the FSB forces are working to thwart separate Ukrainian units’ attempts to push into Kursk Region.
We cannot help but notice that these criminal actions are taking place during the days of the anniversary of the tragic events in August 2008, sixteen years ago, when Saakashvili ordered to attack South Ossetia and Russian peacekeepers. The so called “Georgian Legion”, consisting of Georgian citizens, including those engaged in killings of peaceful Ossetian population in 2008, is currently taking most active part in the attack against Kursk Region.
It is obvious that both the events of August 2008 and the current happenings in Kursk Region could not have taken place without a go-ahead from the “collective West” and its military and political support for the regimes of Saakashvili and Zelensky.
South Ossetia has suffered the consequences of Georgian nationalism, has been through the tests of war and hardship. We strongly condemn the large-scale provocation of the Kiev regime in Kursk Region and once again express our support for the decision of the leadership of the Russian Federation to conduct the special military operation to protect the residents of Donbass and to defeat the neo-Nazism foothold created by the West’s efforts near the Russian borders.
