The VI Global Forum of Young Diplomats "Diplomacy of the New Multipolar World" was held in Kazan from August 17 to 21. The South Ossetian delegation was represented by A.G.Sanakoev, Head of Department for Cooperation with Foreign Missions of the MFA RSO, D.S.Babutsidze, Consultant of the Department of Foreign Policy Relations of the MFA RSO and the First Secretary of the Embassy of the RSO in the RF S.G.Margiev.
The forum was organized by the Council of Young Diplomats of the Russian Foreign Ministry with the assistance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan, the public organization "Academy of Youth Diplomacy", the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund. 130 delegates from 40 countries took part in the event.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the organizers, participants and guests of the VI Global Forum of Young Diplomats with a welcoming speech, noting that "horizontal diplomacy" provides an excellent opportunity for young specialists of foreign policy services, representatives of authorities, and the expert community to conduct an informal exchange of opinions on key issues of international life.
The Forum program included a number of meetings dedicated to the "horizontal diplomacy" of the new multipolar world, multilateral consultations of youth structures of the EAEU countries, during which information security in modern international relations and the role of "soft power" were discussed, and plans for joint projects were outlined.
The Forum was attended by the Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation O.V.Matytsin, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs L.E.Slutsky, Senator of the Russian Federation, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council K.I.Kosachev and others.
Within the framework of the Forum, an official ceremony of admission of new members to the International Association of Young Diplomats (IAMD) took place. Representatives of diplomatic agencies from more than 20 countries, including South Ossetia, joined the IAMD.
On the last day of the Forum was signed a protocol, which noted the importance of joint efforts in the formation of a polycentric world based on international law, as well as the development of the concept of "horizontal diplomacy" at the national, regional and multilateral levels as an efficient instrument for cooperation of young diplomats. The delegates also opposed the rehabilitation of fascism and Nazism.
