The South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev sent a congratulatory letter to Foreign Minister of Venezuela Yvan Gil Pinto on the occasion of the 240th anniversary of the birth of the national hero of Venezuela Simon Bolivar.
The letter, in particular, reads:
"For the peoples of Latin America and, in particular, Venezuela, an entire era is associated with the name of Simon Bolivar, marked by fateful events that brought freedom from colonial dependence.
The brightest representative of his time and a legendary personality, Simon Bolivar left an indelible mark in the history of mankind. His ideas about the freedom and equality of the peoples of Latin America became the philosophy of life and struggle of such revolutionaries as Carlos Fonseca, Augusto Sandino, Ernesto Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and many other patriots.
I am convinced that the ideas of Simon Bolivar and his struggle for independence, equality, the right of peoples to decide their own destiny will continue".
A congratulatory letter from Akhsar Dzhioev was also sent to Jesús Rafael Salazar Velásquez, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of South Ossetia.
