Irakliy Alasania, the Minister of Defence of Georgia, declared on October, 14 that Georgia would begin the process of South Ossetia and Abkhazia "deokkupation" by means of the international community pressure. What is more, the normative acts approved by parliaments of the two states have no international legal value for Georgia.
Aberrated approach of Georgian politicians makes them misinterpret the reality. Facts of the existence of the Republic of South Ossetia as well as the decision-making by the Republic’s authorities do not depend on their value for Georgian officials.
The 20th round of the Geneva International Discussions have seen independent international experts who were invited by the discussions co-moderators. The purpose for that was taking part in negotiations on the so-called “occupation”. As the experts stated unanimously, the term “occupation” concerning South Ossetia is inapplicable.
There exist a current reality and an invented world seen by Georgian officials. The reality is as follows: South Ossetia is a recognized state established by free expression of the will of the people who live there, a state that has borders and public authorities. Georgian leaders should take these facts into consideration no matter want they or not.
