The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia appeals to foreign governments to take into consideration the tragic date for the Ossetian nation — the centenary of the Ossetian genocide, committed by the Georgian government in 1918-1920. On June 20, 2020, each Ossetian family will commemorate the civilian population of South Ossetia, their loved ones, killed by the Georgian raiders.

On March 5, 2020, President of the Republic of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov signed the Decree establishing the Day of remembrance for the victims of Ossetian Genocide on June 20, the day when Georgian murderers execute 13 Ossetian Kommunars.

To honour the memory of the victims of the genocide, commemoration events will be held on June 20 in the Republic of South Ossetia and in South Ossetia’s foreign agencies; the national flag will fly half-staff, church bells will ring in memory of the innocents murdered, and a minute of silence will be held.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia sent a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, which, in particular, states that the South Ossetian party confirms the participation of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia A. I. Bibilov in the celebrations dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which will be held on 24 June 2020 in Moscow.

 

May 20 in South Ossetia is the Day of Memory and Mourning. On this day in 1992, at the height of the Georgian military aggression against South Ossetia, on the bypass road through the village of Zar, a column of refugees from South Ossetia was shot by Georgian extremists. As a result of this barbaric action, 33 people died - mostly children, women, the elderly, about 20 people were seriously injured.

On May 13, President of the Republic of South Ossetia A.I. Bibilov signed the Instrument of Ratification, confirming that the South Ossetian Party is carrying out internal procedures for the accession of the Republic of South Ossetia to the SCO Convention on Countering Extremism.

On December 24, 2018 Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, hosted a meeting with Natalia Nikonorova, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People`s Republic, who had arrived in Tskhinval on a working visit.

Dmitrii Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, Andrey Tskhovrebov, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, and Sergey Peresada, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People's Republic, participated in the meeting as well.

A meeting of Dmitrii Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, and Natalia Nikonorova, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People`s Republic, who has arrived in Tskhinval on a working visit, was held on December 24.

During the meeting the Ministers exchanged opinion on running issues, related to the bilateral relations and regional agenda.

Leonid Pasechnik, Head of the Lugansk People's Republic, arrived in Tskhinval on an official visit on December 17, 2018.

The official delegation of the Lugansk People's Republic includes Denis Miroshnichenko, the Chairman of the People's Council of the Lugansk People's Republic, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lugansk People's Republic, and Vladimir Chernev, Adviser to the Head of the Lugansk People's Republic.

To pay tribute to victims of the Georgian aggression Leonid Pasechnik laid a wreath at the Chapel at the Memorial cemetery of Tskhinval school №5.
