Question: How can You comment ms Heidi Tagliavini’s statement at PAEU that it was Georgia who launched 2008 August war?
Answer: At PAEU session took the floor Heidi Tagliavini, the chairman of Euro union commission, who was engaged in fact finding apropos of August of 2008. She repeated again the main conclusion of her report that it was Georgia who started the war at the 8th of August of 2008. This stand sounded once again and sounded rather clear. Ms Tagliavini confirmed once again that it was unprovoked aggression against South Ossetia, unprovoked war of Georgia against the people of South Ossetia.
The fact that Ms Tagliavini stresses in the report, and yesterday this also were specified, that the actions of Russia after the 9 of august were “inadequate in the situation” shoes she wanted to observe some balance. Nonetheless, it sounded clear that the war was between the Georgia and South Ossetia. Russia relieved the people of South Ossetia, relieved its citizens.
Question: Please comment the statement of Saakashvili that the territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia are the “paradise for the smuggling of nuclear waist”.
Answer: This statement Saakashvili made after the conference on nuclear disarmament held by the initiative of the US President Mr. Obama, participated by Saakashvili as well. This statement was made to “decorate” in some way his presence and his speech at this conference.
This is not the first similar statement of Georgian authorities which have no any grounds, this is a mere statement. In this connection it becomes clear that the actions and statements of Georgia follow a definite spiral. Recently Georgian authorities presented in Strasburg a “new strategy” towards Abkhazia and South Ossetia. This strategy is the reiteration of programs and plans of Georgian authorities beginning from 2004 and fulfilled towards South Ossetia several years in a row. That time there also were several plans of settlement of relations with South Ossetia. And the number of these plans was so high that even the Georgian representatives got mixed up. And now they are doing the same.
The same goes to accusations in smuggling of nuclear waist. Several years ago Georgian authorities stated they detained a person who ostensibly wanted to smuggle to Georgia a nuclear waist in his chest pocket. And ostensibly he was detained in Kazbegi village, but they immediately accused South Ossetia in smuggling of nuclear waist, although Kazbegi village is not in South Ossetia. And again Mr. Saakashvili without any grounds accuses the Republic of South Ossetia that our territory is the paradise for nuclear smugglers.
Once again: it is just a mere accusation, to make a P.R. action in the face of western mass media. It is a pity Georgian authorities never draw a conclusions from the history.
