The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela have recognized the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia on September 10, 2009.
Akhsar Dzhioev, the South Ossetian Foreign Minister, addressed a congratulatory letter to Carlos Rafael Faria Tortosa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of the recognition of the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The letter, in particular, reads:
The recognition of the freedom and the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on September 10, 2009 became a milestone event in the history of the Ossetian nation. That sign of sincere solidarity gave us incentive and support in difficult period of the state’s history. Today South Ossetia fully feels the firm friendly shoulder of Venezuela at all levels of international cooperation.
Noting with satisfaction the high level of political dialogue between our states, I am convinced that the development of comprehensive cooperation and strengthening of allied relations will continue to contribute to the constructive interaction between our countries and the rapprochement of our peoples.
