September 14 marks the 14th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation.
On the occasion of the anniversary, Akhsar Dzhioev, the South Ossetian Foreign Minister, addressed a congratulatory letter to Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister.
The letter, in particular, reads:
September 9, 2008 marked the beginning of a new era in the history of the relations between our states. The establishment of diplomatic relations initiated development of the bilateral interstate relations, strategic partnership, deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation and improvement of integration process.
I am pleased to emphasize the high level of the interstate political dialogue. Over the years we have managed to gain serious results in building statehood, developing economic relations and strengthening of social sphere.
I am convinced that the fruitful cooperation between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation would actively develop further for the benefit of our nations.
