Press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia

October 20, 2107 saw Dmitriy Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, participating in the X Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona, Italy.

More than 1000 delegates from Russia, Italy, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, South Korea and European states took part in the event.

Businessmen, political and public figures, diplomats and experts addressed the Forum. Prime Minister of Italy from 1996–1998 and 2006–2008 Romano Prodi, CEO of Rosneft Igor Sechin, former Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi, German Chancellor from 1998–2005 Gerhard Schroeder, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Pirelli & C. Marco Tronchetti Provera, President of Liguria Giovanni Toti, Mayor of Verona Federico Sboarina, State Secretary of the Union State of Russia and Belarus Grigory Rapota, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Italy and San Marino Sergey Razov, President of Eni Emma Marchegalia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Italy and Malta Alexander Guryanov and others were among the delegates.

The key theme for discussion was “Greater Eurasia as a driving force in the current international geopolitical and economic context”.

The event was organized by the Conoscere Eurasia Association, the Roscongress Foundation and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Meetings of Minister Medoev with Lorenzo Fontana, Italian Northern League's representative in the European Parliament, Romano Prodi, former Chairman of the European Commission, and Italian businessmen were held on the margins of the Forum.

Upon completion of the working visit of the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Dmitriy Medoev to the Italian Republic a press conference will be organized in Verona Mayor’s Office on October 21, 2017.
