On 4 March 2012, the citizens of the Russian Federation, permanent residents of the Republic of South Ossetia or those staying on the ballot day on its territory, took part in the elections of the President of Russian Federation.
Twelve polling stations were opened in South Ossetia. The elections were organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Ossetia.
The elections in South Ossetia were held in the environment of the great enthusiasm of the electorate. 92, 77% of them gave their votes to Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. 3,71% voted for G. A. Zuganov, 1,61% for M.D. Prokhorov, 1,48% for V.V. Zhirinovsky and 0,43% for Mironov.
The completed elections of the Russian Federation President more demonstrated once that the Republic of South Ossetia in its foreign policy is oriented on the Russian Federation, its people are grateful to the Russian leadership and hope for further development and consolidation of the relations with Russia.
