On 27 February, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia A. M. Dzhioev took part in the memorial evening of Nafi Grigorievich Dzhusoity, which was held at the Russian Culture Foundation in Moscow.
The event in honour of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ossetian poet, playwright, publicist, literary scholar, translator and Ossetian national writer was organized by the Permanent Representation of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania to the President of the Russian Federation together with the Embassy of South Ossetia in Russia and the Moscow Ossetian community.
The memorial evening was attended by those who knew the poet well, colleagues, admirers and relatives. The event was attended by Soviet statesman and politician Felix Sanakoev, a friend of the writer for more than 50 years, as well as Salikhat Gamzatova, daughter of Rasul Gamzatov, whose poems Nafi Dzhusoity translated into Ossetian.
Akhsar Dzhioev on behalf of the President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev expressed words of greetings and gratitude to the organisers and participants of the memorial evening, noting the significance of the events on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nafi Dzhusoity, which are taking place these days both in South Ossetia and North Ossetia.
Many kind words were said about Nafi Dzhusoity. Poems and songs, which the poet loved so much, were performed from the stage. A documentary film about the life and work of the great Ossetian was also shown.
