Concerning the US Senate project of arms supply renewing to Georgia
As it was disclosed in mass media, US Senate had confirmed the project of expenses on national defense for 2012 which contains a special chapter – “Cooperation with Georgia in military sphere”. According to document, “normalization” of military cooperation envisages renewing of arms deliveries to Georgia to “protect its Government, people and sovereign territories”. It is also emphasized in the document that US must call for “NATO member states and candidate states to renew and expand selling of defensive armament and maintenance” for Georgia.
Taking into account that US Senate adopted a resolution supporting “territorial integrity” of Georgia on July 29, renewal of arms supply can be consider as a direct push to aggressive actions against South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
It has to be admitted that American senators never learn a lesson from the tragic events of August 2008 and once again begin encouraging Saakashvili to another aggressive steps to please their political ambitions. It is an open secret that exactly the political and military backing of number of states, first of all US, of Georgian regime inspired government of this state on fulfilling of unprecedented perfidious and cruel military aggression against the Republic of South Ossetia.
In south Ossetia experienced in full and do know real predestination of “defensive weapons”, that had been for a number of years delivered to Georgia from the US and other western countries. Here well remember assurances of US high representatives, including senators, that Georgian authorities will never use against South Ossetia supplied from US armaments and trained by American instructors on training and equipping program militaries. August 2008 showed a value of these assurances.
Three-year abstention of US from arms deliveries to Georgia was an indirect acknowledgement of the fact that it was Georgia who started the war against South Ossetia and used western armament during the invasion.
At obvious US support Georgian authorities refuse to sign juridically binding document with the Republic of South Ossetia and Abkhazia of non-use of force as envisages by Medvedev-Sarkozy plan, and practically commit sabotage the progress in Geneva process on providing security in Transcaucasia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia more than once called for international community not to provoke Georgia’s president Mikhail Saakashvili to another “deeds”. The same time imposition of a wide international embargo on deliveries, first of all offensive armaments and defense technology to Georgia would significantly reduce a threat of Georgia’s aggression recidivisms.
