On February 17, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev hosted a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Oleg Bartsits.
Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of South Oss etia Alan Elbakiev, Deputy Foreign Minister of Abkhazia Odyssey Bigvava and Head of the Department of Strategic Cooperation of the Abkhazian Foreign Ministry Jemal Bganba.
While welcoming the guests, Alan Gagloev emphasized the special character of relations between South Ossetia and Abkhazia, based on the principles of fraternity, alliance and strategic partnership with the Russian Federation.
In his turn, Oleg Bartsits thanked the President for a warm welcome and noted that Abkhazia and South Ossetia have completely identical positions on key issues on the international agenda.
An award ceremony was also held during the meeting.
By Decree of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, was awarded the Order of Friendship for his services in strengthening relations between the peoples of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia.
Odyssey Bigvava and Jemal Bganba were awarded medals “In commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the Republic of South Ossetia”.
