November 20 saw a working meeting of the South Ossetian delegation at the GID, headed by Murat Dzhioev, the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia on post-conflict settlement, and the Co-Chairs of the Discussions representing the EU, the OSCE and the UN.
Agenda of the forthcoming 46th round of the GID scheduled for December 11-12 has been discussed at the meeting.
The main attention has been drawn to issues of maintaining security and stability in territories, adjusted to the South Ossetian-Georgian border, and in the region in general.
The South Ossetian party expressed serious concern about on-going provocations, organized by Georgian party near the border, which could destabilize the situation in the region. The provocative character of Georgian political figures’ visits to border area, conducted in line with forthcoming elections, was also marked.
The necessity of joint work with Georgia on delimitation of the state border, which could prevent a set of problems, was emphasized.
Serious attention has been drawn to humanitarian issues, which would be discussed in Geneva by members of Working group II.
After the meeting the Co-Chairs of the Discussions answered questions of the South Ossetian media representatives.
