The official delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia, headed by Igor Kozaev, the Chief of Administration of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, which was heading to Tiraspol to participate in the festivities dedicated to the 27th Anniversary of the Day of Republic of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, was denied entry to the Republic of Moldova by border guards of the Republic of Moldova on August 31.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia considers similar actions of the Moldovan authorities in relation to the delegation of South Ossetia, which has violated neither norms of the international law, nor the legislation of Moldova, unacceptable. Unfortunately, it is far from being the first case, as it is a continuation of the policy pursued by Chisinau in organizing artificial international isolation of Pridnestrovie.
It seems that the systematic development of the bilateral relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is a red flag for the authorities of Moldova. Similar clumsy attempts to limit the political activity of Pridnestrovie will in no way interfere with further expansion of all-round ties and consolidation of friendly relations and partnership between South Ossetia and Pridnestrivie, as well as with other countries.
The shortsighted political decisions made by the official Chisinau put at risk the tentative harmonization of the positions and the vitally important dialogue between the heads of the states, which without any doubt would cripple the process of settlement of relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova.
At the same time we are convinced that no pressure from the authorities of Moldova would prevent citizens of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic from celebrating the important state event, which has become a true national holiday.
