On 20 May 2013 South Ossetia commemorated victims of Georgian aggression on Zar road in 1992.

On 20 May 1992 on the Road of Life, connecting Tskhinval with the rest of the world, near village Zar a convoy with defenseless children, elders and women was shot dead. 33 people were killed, 16 people were wounded. The eldest among them was 73 years old, the youngest was 11 years.

On 17 May 2013 a working meeting between members of South-Ossetian delegation for Geneva Discussions, headed by the Presidential Envoy on post-conflict resolution Mr. Murat Dzhioev, and Co-chairs of Geneva Discussions on Seecurity and Stability from EU, OSCE and UN took place.

During the meeting the sides discussed agenda of the forthcoming round of Geneva discussions, planned for the end of June 2013. The participants looked into different approaches to the negation format in the frame of Geneva discussions for better efficiency and productivity of the meetings.

On 16 May 2013 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia Mr. David Sanakoev arrived with an official visit to Sukhum, where he participated in celebrations related to 20th anniversary since establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.

During the visit Minister of Foreign Affairs of RSO D. G. Sanakoev met with the Minister of Foreign Affaiars of RA V. L. Chikirba, during the meeting they discussed bilateral cooperation and signed Consultation Schedule for 2013.

On the speech made at PACE spring session by Prime-Minister of Georgia

On 23 April 2013 Prime-Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili made a speech at the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasburg and announced the main directions and tasks in foreign policy of Georgia. He particularly said “it is known that 20 percent of the territory of Georgia was occupied by Russia in 2008”.

On 24 April 2013 during a working visit to Moscow Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia David Sanakoev met with Secretary of State, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation G. B. Karasin.

During the meeting were discussed topical issues in the context of bilateral relations between Russian Federation and Republic of South Ossetia, interaction in foreign-policy as well as some aspects of the current situation in South Caucasus.

On appointment of Mr. Oleg Botsiev as an Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia in Republic of Abkhazia.

On 15 April 2013 by a Decree of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia L. Tibilov Botsiev Oleg Ilich was appointed as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia in Republic of Abkhazia.

Short biodata:

Botsiev Oleg was born on 26 March 1954 in Tkvarchal town of Abkhaz ASSR.

On possible recurring investigation of occurrences that took place in August 2008 in Georgia

Requests to carry a recurring investigation on the facts that took place during war in August 2008 and their legal qualification are heard more often from highest Georgian tribunes. In particular, Prime-Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili stated that “the war issue is covered with mist” and called on investigation of it’s circumstances.

On 26-27 March 2013 a regular meeting in the framework of the International Geneva Discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia took place. At the meeting participated delegations of Republic of South Ossetia, Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, Russian Federation, US as well as representatives of EU, UN and OSCE. The South-Ossetian delegation was headed by the Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy on post conflict resolution M. Dzioev.

On 5 March 2013 First Deputy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia Mr. Kazbulat Tskhovrebov received the Head of Tskhinval office of the International Committee of Red Cross Ms. Leanna Hutchins.

During the meeting Ms. Hutchins briefed about ICRC activities in South Ossetia during the recent months. The meeting participants also discussed a range of practical issues of humanitarian character.

The sides expressed their readiness for further cooperation.

On 13 March 2012 Republic of South Ossetia was visited by delegation of the Co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions on Security in Transcaucasia. The delegation was received by the representatives of the authorities of the Republic of South Ossetia headed by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia on post conflict resolution Mr. M. Dzhioev.

On 21 February 2012, during the working visit to Moscow, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia D. Sanakoev met with the Secretary of State – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation G. Karasin. Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of RSO M. Dzhioev was also present at the meeting.

During the meeting were discussed topical issues of the bilateral relations between Russian Federation and Republic of South Ossetia, as well as questions related to Geneva Discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia.
