On the refugee resolution accepted by the UN General Assembly

On 5 June 2014 the UN General Assembly accepted resolution on refugees initiated by Georgia. The document reflects falsified, one-sided and politicized vision of the problem imposed on the International Community by Georgia and its sponsors. The aim of the document was to claim again territories that do not belong to Georgia.

On 3-4 June Tskhinval was visited by a delegation of from Eritrea headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Eritrea Mr. Osman Saleh.

During a comprehensive meeting, that took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the sides discussed perspectives of bilateral relations and potential cooperation in different fields.

The negotiations were carried out in a constructive a friendly manner.

After the meeting the sides answered questions of mass-media representatives.

A telephone conversation between the acting in charge Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia David Sanakoev and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Abkhazia Vyacheslav Chirikba took place on 30th May.

During the conversation David Sanakoev noted that South Ossetia is closely following the situation in Abkhazia. He also hoped that political wisdom of people of Abkhazia will allow to remain within the constitutional framework and resolve the situation through a political dialogue by peaceful means.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Right Ms. Navi Pillay made a number of statements on situation in South Ossetia, during her visit to Georgia, that have nothing to do with the reality. According to the High Commissioner South Ossetia became a ‘black hole’ and ‘one of the most difficult places to access’ where ‘living conditions are steadily deteriorating’ She noted that “despite the multiple attempts and appeals on behalf of the UN General Secretary, we have been denied access to Abkhazia and South Ossetia. I myself tried to get admittance but I was rejected again”.

On 14 May 2014 Republic of South Ossetia was visited by Co-chairman of Geneva Discussions on Peace and Stability and Transcaucasia. The delegation met with South Ossetian participants of the Geneva Discussions headed by Presidential Envoy on Post-Conflict resolution M.K. Jioev.

During the meeting were discussed issues related to 28th round of Geneva Discussions planned for 17-18 June 2014.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia informs that deadline for submission of applications for a competitive exam to Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation is on 23 May 2014.

Competitive exam, consisting of an interview and admissions examinations, will take place on 11-12 June 2014.

On 5 May acting Minister of Foreign Affairs D.G. Sanakoev received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bolivar Republic of Venezuela Mr. Juan Vicente Paredes Torrealba.

During the meeting the Ambassador presented copies of credentials to the acting Minister. David Sanakoev congratulated Juan Vicente with his new appointment, wished him fruitful work and hoped for active cooperation in strengthening of intestate relations between Republic of South Ossetia and Bolivar Republic of Venezuela.

Information about escalation of violence in Ukraine is raising a lot of concerns about the fate of this country. The de-facto authorities, whose legitimacy is based on maidan, are fighting against people of south – east regions of Ukraine. National army, consisting of members of radical nationalistic organizations, is shooting down peaceful population regardless their age and gender. Assault detachments of the regime are carrying out large-scale deterrent actions around the country. Only during the massacre, organized by them in Odessa, on 2 May were killed more than 40 people.

On 4-6 May capital of Republic of South Ossetia Tskhinval is going to be visited by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Republic of South Ossetia Juan Vicente Paredes Torrealba.
