Ossetian mission on the Geneva International Discussions headed by Murat Dzhioev, the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia on post-conflict settlement, played host to the Co-chairmen of the Discussions, who visited the Republic on September, 16, 2014.

Issues concerning preparation for the forthcoming 29th round of the Discussions that is going to be held on October, 7-8, 2014 have been talked over.

The Treaty on Alliance and Integration between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation was signed on March, 18. Signing of the document drew a wide response. Refusing to recognize the existing reality, Georgia and some western countries claimed the signed Treaty to be a violation of international law. Though, over 80 bilateral agreements, including the framework Treaty on Friendship, Collaboration and Mutual Assistance dated September, 17, 2008 were signed between our countries since August, 2008, not any of them have drawn so much attention from the third countries.

Concerning the results of the 31st round of the Geneva International Discussions

Regular round of the Geneva International Discussions was held on March 17-18, 2015 in Geneva. Official mission from South Ossetia, headed by Murat Dzhioev, the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia on post-conflict settlement, missions from Abkhazia, Georgia, Russia, the USA as well as representatives of the EU, the UN and OSCE took part in negotiations.

Unexpected announcement was made by Zurab Abashidze, the Georgian Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Relations with Russia. “Provided, Russia promotes and encourages a direct dialogue between us and the Ossetians, us and the Abkhazians we are ready to set these questions connected with statehoods aside and even do not discuss them for some time".

Pertaining to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia

February 18, 2015 has seen the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in which the signed agreement on the Ossetian-Russian boundary was criticized and the world community was called for “taking effective measures preventing Russian activities against Georgia”.

“The Agreement on the frontier between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation” has been signed on February 18, 2015 in Moscow. The ceremony took place within the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia D. G. Sanakoev to the capital of the Russian Federation. The agreement was signed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs - D. G. Sanakoev on South Ossetian side and S. V. Lavrov on Russian side.

A monument dedicated to a participant of the Civil war in Spain (1936-1939), a national hero of the USSR and the prototype of the central character of the world known novel "For whom the bell tolls" written by Ernest Hemingway Haji-Umar D. Mamsurov was opened on February, 16 in Fuenlabrad.

D.G. Sanakoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, an official mission from North Ossetia headed by the President of the Republic Taimuraz Mamsurov, Khadzhi-Umar's daughter Asya and grandson Sergio Hernandez took part in the monument’s official opening ceremony.
