The professional Day of peacekeepers was celebrated on July, 14 in the Republic of South Ossetia. This day the Joint Peacekeeping Forces entered the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone in 1992. For 16 years the peacekeeping forces have been the only guarantor of peace in the region and faced first attacks of Georgian army in August, 2008. The feat of these heroes will be kept in memory of South Ossetian people.
Kazbulat Tskhovrebov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, took part in wreath laying ceremony to the Memorial Cross, put up at walls of former barracks of Russian peacekeeping forces which burned down in 2008, to the monument to a Hero of Russia major Denis Vetchinov and to the monument to the lost peacekeepers put up on territory of the Frontier office of the Russian Federal Security Service in RSO which traditionally takes place this day.
