Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia

Once again the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia declared of transferring South Ossetia-Georgian boundary deeper into Georgian territory while establishing entry-resistant constructions. The planned visit of Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, whom the Georgian party tried to bring to border obviously with provocative purposes is also connected with alleged violation of border by South Ossetia representatives.

Therefore it is advisable to remind that Georgian authorities undertook similar provocation at the end of November, 2008, when Lech Kaczyński, the former President of Poland, was also brought at South Ossetia - Georgian border and fired by Georgian party. The fact of the attack on Polish delegation is confirmed by an official report issued by the Internal Security Agency of Poland where explicitly was stated that “shooting near the car of Polish and Georgian Presidents was a Georgian provocation”.

Drama shows that now and then are organized by Georgian authorities, who are competing in ingenuity and calling the international community for support in solving their invented problems, are perceived in South Ossetia as figments of diseased imagination of the Georgian politicians.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia reports that since July 1, 2015 the KGB Border service of RSO started the planned works on the frontier demarcation that would be carried out in full compliance with South Ossetia legislation exclusively on territory of the Republic and would not violate the sovereignty of Georgia.

Using demagogic statements concerning infringement of Georgian territorial integrity and mythical occupation of South Ossetia by Russia as a cover, Georgian leaders try to mislead the international community and impose upon it illusions and false ideas of the existing reality. We believe increasing tensions about the border by Georgian party is counterproductive as can destabilize once again the situation in the region.
