Negotiations between Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, and Raul Khadzhimba, the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, who arrived in Tskhinval on an official visit, took place in the Residence of the South Ossetian President on November 26, 2017.

The Presidents discussed terms of further development and strengthening of the South Ossetian-Abkhazian relations and exchanged opinion on current issues of international agenda.

Later the South Ossetian and the Abkhazian parties held extended-format talks.

Upon an invitation from Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, Raul Khadzhimba, the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, arrived in Tskhinval on an official visit on November 26, 2017.

The official delegation included Daur Arshba, Chief of Administration of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, Daur Kove, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adgur Kakoba, Minister of Education and Daur Tarba, Minister of Agriculture.

In anticipation of the official visit of Raul Khadzhimba, the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, to the Republic of South Ossetia, Anatolii Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, signed a Decree, dated November 26, 2017, on pardoning Georgian citizen Giorgi Giunashvili, sentenced by the Supreme Court of the Republic of South Ossetia on February 3, 2017.

The release of the citizen of Georgia was rendered at the request of the Abkhazian President Raul Khadzhimb, who earlier had addressed a corresponding letter to the South Ossetian President Anatolii Bibilov.

Upon an invitation from Gennadiy Zuganov, the Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF), Mauro Murgia, the Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in Italy, visited Moscow on November 23, 2017.

During the meeting Mr. Zuganov decorated Mr. Murgia with a commemorative medal “100 Years of the Great October Revolution”.

On the occasion of the Day of Bravery and National Union

Commemorative events, dedicated to the Day of Bravery and National Union, are held in the Republic of South Ossetia on November 23. This great day went down in history of South Ossetia as a symbol of stout-heartedness and unity of the nation in its struggle against the Georgian aggression.

On November 23, 1989 under the pretext of a peaceful demonstration, the Georgian nationalists, headed by Zviad Gamsakhurdia, organized a several thousand strong march towards Tskhinval.

Upon the invitation from Alan Kasaev, Chief Editor of the newspaper “North Ossetia”, Dmitrii Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, participated in the festivities, dedicated to the century anniversary of the main newspaper of the Republic.

The solemn assembly took place in North Ossetia State Thapsaev Academic Drama Theater in Vladikavkaz.

Anatoliy Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, continues his official visit to the Russian Federation.

Today, on November 14, President Bibilov laid a wreath to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden by Kremlin Wall. Members of the South Ossetian delegation participated in the ceremony. The participants observed a moment of silence in tribute to the Soviet citizens who fell in the Great Patriotic War while protecting the Motherland.

After the wreath laying ceremony the Kremlin Regiment march took place.

 

In framework of the official visit of Anatoliy Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, to the Russian Federation a meeting of Dmitriy Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, with Mike Aroy, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Nauru, took place on November 13, 2017 in Moscow.

A range of issues of mutual interest was discussed during the meeting. In particular, strengthening cooperation through the two Foreign Ministries was on the agenda.
