South Ossetia was bewildered by the Statement of the MFA of Georgia and further declarations made by US Ambassador in Georgia Richard Norland and EU Commissioner for enlargement and European neighborhood policy Stepan Fule on arrangements carried out by the South Ossetian side along the state border between South Ossetia with Georgia.
The incident that took place on 17 September near village Ditsi, Gori region of Georgia, was provoked by the Georgian side and allegedly involved local residents. Their goal was to prevent South Ossetia and Russia border services from carrying out legal actions in the mentioned region. All the works on identification of the state border line between Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia and its infrastructure development are being done in full compliance with the legislation of South Ossetia on sovereign territory of South Ossetia.
South Ossetia has applied a number of times to the Georgian leadership with proposals to carry out joint activities on delimitation and demarcation of the border line between South Ossetia and Georgia. Unfortunately, this initiative of South Ossetia was not supported by Tbilisi. The Georgian side and its partners on international arena US and EU, instead of showing a constructive approach, use old stereotypes and refuse to accept the new geopolitical realities existing since August 2008.
