On December 12, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia A. M. Dzhioev attended a reception on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Nicaragua, as well as the 9th anniversary of the establishment of Friendship Day between the two states, which was held at the Cultural Centre of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the event, the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between the two countries from the Russian and Nicaraguan sides, VeronikaSkvortsova, Head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia, and Laureano Ortega, Special Representative of the President of Nicaragua for Cooperation with Russia, delivered speeches. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov also addressed the audience. The speakers emphasized the significance and strength of Russian-Nicaraguan relations based on mutual respect and cooperation.
Laureano Ortega during his conversation with AkhsarDzhioev conveyed words of greetings to the Presidentof South Ossetia Alan Gagloev.
