The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia sent a note of solidarity and support to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia on the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of the Fatherland.
The note, in particular, reads:
"The tragic events that begun on August 14, 1992, will forever remain an unhealed wound for the people of Abkhazia. At the cost of enourmous losses and sacrifies, having demonstrated exceptional courage, heroism and patriotism, the people of Abkhazia won a decisive victory and defended their right to peaceful life.
On this day the people of South Ossetia share the pain of heavy losses with families and loved ones of the killed defenders and peaceful population of Abkhazia and bow before the blessed memory of the fallen".
