On June 20-22, commemorative events, dedicated to the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People are taking place in the Republic of Belarus.
In framework of the working visit of the delegation of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry to Brest Akhsar Dzhioev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, participated in the commemorative meeting “Be Worthy of the Memory of the Fallen”, which was held at the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex. Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev, officials of Belarus and Russia, representatives of public organizations, residents and guests of Brest attended the event. The delegation visited the military-historical re-enactment of the defense of the Brest Fortress performed at the Kobrin fortification of the fortress.
The delegation laid flowers to the common grave in Chernavchitsy village of the Brest region, the final resting place of a South Ossetia native Dryaev Bagrat Maksimovich, Junior Sergeant of the 168th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 55th Guards Rifle Division, who died a hero’s death on July 26, 1994 in the bloody battle for liberation of the Brest region.
