On May 7, on the eve of the celebration of the 78th anniversary of the Great Victory, games of junior chess teams of South Ossetia and Pridnestrovie took place in framework of the International Online Rapid Chess Tournament for Juniors between teams of Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Pridnestrovie.

Official Representations of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic were initiators of the online tournament.

Georgy Shavlokhov (the Republic of South Ossetia) and Galina Saprykina (the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic) participated in the event on the part of the chess federations of the parties.

Teams of South Ossetia and Pridnestrovie played more than 100 matches. As a result of scoring, Pridnestrovian chess players won.

Following the results of the competition, Pridnestrovian chess players were awarded with diplomas and gifts presented by Vitaliy Yankovskiy, Head of the Official Representation of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

Alan Pliev, Head of the Official Representation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the Republic of South Ossetia participated in the event and expressed gratitude to the Russian House in Tskhinval and personally to its Head Sergei Skvortsov for providing a venue for the tournament.

In Tiraspol, the premises for Pridnestrovian chess players were provided by the brunch of Konstantin Zatulin’s CIS Countries Institute.
