On March 23, a video conference of the South Ossetian delegation at the Geneva International Discussions with the Co-Chairs of the Discussions, representing the EU, the OSCE and the UN, was held in Tskhinval.
During the meeting a range of issues, related to the conduction of the forthcoming 57th round of the GID, was discussed.
The South Ossetian party emphasized that lasting breaks in work negatively affect the efficiency of the GID which has no alternative today and is the most important platform for maintaining direct dialogue between the parties. Operating IPRM format cannot fully substitute full-fledged meetings of the parties.
The participants confirmed that provision of lasting security and elimination of the possibility of resumption of hostilities remain key objectives of the Discussions. In this regards the South Ossetian party emphasized its stand on the fact that work on a legally binding agreement on non-use of force have to be resumed and the consultations on delimitation have to be initiated as soon as possible.
The participants reiterated the commitment to further fruitful and constructive work in framework of the Geneva process, despite the complex geopolitical situation in the world.
The 57th round of GID is scheduled for April 4-5, 2023.
