Official delegation of the Republic of South Ossetia headed by Kazbulat Tskhovrebov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, returning from Tiraspol, where the delegates had participated in ceremonies dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the Moldovan Transdniestrian Republic, was detained by representatives of national security of the Republic of Moldova in Chisinau International Airport on September, 3.
Despite the agreements reached and assurances made by Moldovan authorities to provide free transit passage, artificial barriers were made to South Ossetia delegates on their way home. Moreover, without receiving explanations, members of the delegation were barred from entry to the Republic of Moldova for 10 years.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia considers the actions of Moldovan authorities are absolutely inadmissible and contravene the international legislation. These actions are taken as a provocation in regards to South Ossetia delegation and an uncovered discrimination of the Moldovan Transdniestrian Republic.
Obviously, Moldovan authorities chose the same path as Georgia had walked in developing its relations with South Ossetia and Abkhazia before August, 2008 and haven’t thought over consequences of increasing tensions with neighbor states intentionally.
Without any doubt, the international community, the Republic of Moldova tends to become a full member of, has to take into consideration this incident that characterizes responsibility and negotiability of the state.
