Pertaining to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia
February 18, 2015 has seen the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in which the signed agreement on the Ossetian-Russian boundary was criticized and the world community was called for “taking effective measures preventing Russian activities against Georgia”.
This statement of Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was quite expected and was of no surprise in Tskhinval, as the only thing that remains to Georgian authorities who still do not recognize the existing reality in the region is to make such statements. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia can’t ignore the fact that the headstone in strengthening good neighbourlines and developing peaceful cooperation is to sign an agreement on a frontier that is based on mutual respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the signing states, in this case the Republic of South Ossetia and Russian Federation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia bindingly confirms that the Agreement on the frontier that was signed between South Ossetia and Russia on February, 18 affects in no way the territorial integrity of Georgia and declares this document has formalized the international legal status of the Ossetian-Russian border. Moreover, this document has emphasized once again the full absurdity of the statements made by Georgian politicians and their western patrons about so-called "occupation" of South Ossetia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia reminds that the authorities of the Republic have suggested numerous times the Georgian party to start collaborating on the Ossetian-Georgian frontier delimitation in the framework of providing security and stability in the region, however these offers still haven’t met understanding from the Georgian authorities.
