On 2 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia A.M. Dzhioev took part in a round table discussion entitled “The Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Ossetia: Cultural Dialogue in the Modern World”, organised by the Unity Republican Public Association with the assistance of the Nykhas Republican Public Association as part of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
This event, aimed at further harmonising interethnic relations and strengthening friendship between peoples, was held at the South Ossetian Republican Library named after Anaharsis.
The round table was attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Government and Parliament of South Ossetia, the scientific and cultural elites of the Republic, public organisations, the Russian Embassy in South Ossetia, and a delegation from the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
A welcome address on behalf of South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev was read out by State Counsellor to the President BatradzBegizov.
In his speech, AksarDzhiovemphasised the importance of strengthening comprehensive ties with the Russian Federation against the backdrop of global changes in the world, noting the significance of the 2015 Treaty between South Ossetia and Russia on Alliance and Integration, which provides for a coordinated foreign policy and a common defence security framework, clearly demonstrating the historical interconnection between the two countries. Special attention was paid to the need to intensify integration processes both with the Russian Federation as a whole and with its constituent entities, primarily with the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
