Eleven years ago, South Ossetia and Russia signed the Treaty on Alliance and Integration, which marked the new stage of the bilateral interstate relations.
This comprehensive document, being a solid ground for the legal contractual base of the South Ossetian-Russian relations, alongside with the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, signed in 2008, became another step in strengthening interstate relations between South Ossetia and Russia, based on historical, spiritual and cultural ties.
Later, bilateral agreements in certain areas of cooperation were developed and signed in accordance with the Treaty. For the time being, the significant legal contractual framework includes more that 150 documents of various levels signed between South Ossetia and Russia.
The ongoing consistent implementation of the provisions of the Treaty on Alliance and Integration, which reflects understanding of both states and peoples, allowed to form a trustworthy allied relations between South Ossetia and Russia, anchored by bonds of friendship, good-neighborliness and mutual assistance.
