October 17, 2017 saw a meeting of Dmitriy Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, with Alessandro Bevitori, Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Immigration, and a group of Parliamentarians, representatives of the left-wing Social Democrats, the majority party in the Great and General Council of the Republic of San Marino.

South Ossetia (the Republic of South Ossetia) continues its diplomatic work on further recognition of the Republic and extension of international ties in different regions, stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Dmitriy Medoev in the interview to RIA Novosti, organized during his working visit to the Apennines.

Within the framework of the visit of Dmitriy Medoev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, to Italy, a meeting of the Minister with Alberto Drudi, the Chair of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pesaro -Urbino, the Head of Italian-Russian sector of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, took place on October 16, 2017.

Pertaining to the results of the 41st round of the Geneva International Discussions

October 10-11, 2017 saw a regular round of the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia. A delegation from the Republic of South Ossetia, headed by Murat Dzhioev, the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia on post-conflict settlement, delegations from the Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, the Russian Federation and the USA as well as representatives of the EU, the UN and the OSCE took part in negotiations.

October 9, 2017 saw Vitaliy Yankovskiy, the Head of the Official Representation of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, presenting a painting 08.08.08 by a famous Soviet and Pridnestrovian artist Gennadiy Zykov, which symbolizes the Georgian aggression against the people of South Ossetia, to the National Museum of the Republic of South Ossetia

September 27, 2017 saw an episode of 60 Minutes broadcast on the Russia-1 federal TV channel where one of the participants of the show was trying to draw an analogy between the situation in Ukraine, which has been developing in connection with the ban on use of Russian, and some changes which have affected teaching at schools of the Leningor region of the Republic of South Ossetia.

Pertaining to the Catalan independence referendum

We in South Ossetia watch carefully the political developments in Spain, where on September 6, 2017 the Parliament of Catalonia passed the law on conducting a referendum on independence on October 1, 2017. As a democratic process, a referendum is the highest form of expression of the will of people, and the results of this significant political action are of paramount importance for the community.

September 21, 2017 saw Anatoliy Bibilov, the President of the Republic of South Ossetia, hosting meetings with official delegations of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Lugansk People’s Republic which arrived in Tskhinval on the occasion of the 27th Anniversary of the Republic of South Ossetia.
