On February 15, leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia participated in the official ceremony of laying flowers and wreaths to the monument to soldiers-internationalists, which was held among the events, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.
On January 29, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev participated in a research and practical conference “The Ukrainian crisis: origin, development trends, geopolitical context”, organized by the A. Tibilov South Ossetian State University and the Embassy of the Russian Federation to the Republic of South Ossetia.
On January 27, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation Znaur Gassiev headed the column of more than 25 heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of 44 states at the Piskariovskoye Cemetery in a solemn wreath-laying ceremony dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the complete lifting the Nazi Siege of Leningrad.
On January 23, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Republic of Abkhazia Oleg Botsiev participated in work of the round table, organized on the occasion with the 31st anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic by the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Official Representation of the Pridenstrovian Mol
On January 12-15, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Republic of Nicaragua Narim Kozaev visited to Republic of Nicaragua.
In 2023, in accordance with the designated tasks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its foreign agencies continued their work to defend and promote national interests of South Ossetia, to strengthen and develop mutually beneficial cooperation with the states with which South Ossetia had established diplomatic relations, as well as to expand international contacts.
December 22 saw a friendly online rapid chess tournament held between junior chess teams of South Ossetia and Nicaragua.
The South Ossetian Foreign Ministry was initiator of the online tournament, which was organized at the premises of the Russian House in Tskhinval.
On December 15, in Moscow, the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev met with the State Secretary of the Union State of Russia and Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev.
On December 13, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev attended the event, dedicated to celebration of the 79th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Nicaragua and the Russian Federation, organized in Moscow.
On December 13, the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev participated in the ceremony of awarding the Bulæmærg (“Nightingale”) Literary Award in Moscow.
Akhsar Dzhioev addressed the participants and guests of the ceremony with a welcoming note from the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev.
On December 12, at the invitation of the Major of Moscow S. S. Sobyanin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia A. M. Dzhioev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation Z. N. Gassiev took part in the New Year’s Eve reception, which was held in the Moscow concert hall “Zaradye”.
On December 12, in framework of the working visit to Moscow, the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev participated in the solemn ceremony of honoring one of the most outstanding representatives of the Ossetian nation, Army General, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Issa A. Pliev. The event was organized in connection with the 120th anniversary of Pliev’s birth and was held in the Hall of Glory of the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, located on Poklonnaya Hill.
