Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia

Statements of NATO, US and European structures, made almost at the same time, express concerns about the border arrangement measures taken by authorities of South Ossetia along the state border line of South Ossetia and calls upon Russia to review recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia are meant to meet expectations of Georgian society.

Directing the chorus of its sponsors Georgia again tries to accuse South Ossetia and Russian in violating its “territorial integrity” and to urge Russia to change its opinion on the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Both South Ossetia and, especially, Russia have nothing to do with territorial integrity of Georgia. International recognition of Republic of South Ossetia is аn inconvertible fact. It is surprising that western high rank politicians are not willing to look into the roots and details of this issue but are spreading politically biased false statements that contradict norms and principals of the International Law. South Ossetia and Russia are cooperating in different fields in frame of bilateral agreements that comply with all the norms and principals of the International Law.

To destabilize the situation in the region and pressurize South Ossetia, Georgia is regularly carrying out provocations to violate state border regime of Republic of South Ossetia. Activities that jeopardize well-being of people can not be left without reaction. Calls to stop the border arrangements are absurd as the border is there to insure security and safety of citizens of South Ossetia. Border arrangement is done only on territory of South Ossetia and does affect territory of the neighboring country.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of South Ossetia states that intentional aggravation of the situation by the Georgian side at the border line leads to destabilization of the region, both the Georgian politicians and their partners are recommended to gain strength and recognize reality, existing in South Caucasus since august 2008, for the sake of the Georgian nation.

South Ossetia acknowledges again its commitment to universal values, norms and principals of the International law as well as its readiness to cooperate with all countries, longing for peace and stability in the region.
