On 13–15 September, the IX Global Forum of Young Diplomats was held in Yekaterinburg on the margins of the Global Youth Forum. The event was attended by employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia – the Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia I.Z. Gagloev and a member of the Presidium of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia V.A. Dzakhoev.
The opening ceremony of the IX Global Forum of Young Diplomats was held on 13 September at Yekaterinburg-EXPO. A number of speakers addressed the ceremony, including the Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation E. Akopyan, as well as honorary speakers – the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Leonid Slutsky, the Director of the UN Information Centre in Moscow, the Chairman of the UN agencies in Russia Vladimir Kuznetsov, the Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Konstantin Kolpakov, and the Head of the ANO "Centre for International Interaction and Cooperation", a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Areg Agasaryan. In their speeches, the speakers particularly emphasised the growing role of young employees of foreign policy departments in the transformation of the global governance system, while K. Kolpakov highlighted the importance of the Global Forum of Young Diplomats as a platform for professional dialogue and the development of international ties.
The main theme of the forum was "Diplomacy of the New Generation: the Role of Youth in Improving the Global Governance System". Within the framework of the IX Global Forum of Young Diplomats, several working sessions were held, during which the participants discussed key trends in the development of contemporary international relations, including the formation of a multipolar world and the strengthening of new centres of power, as well as the transformation of international relations under the influence of advanced technologies – the use of AI, media and digital diplomacy tools for the effective support of foreign policy activity.
Within the walls of the Ural Federal University (UrFU), a meeting of the participants of the IX Global Forum of Young Diplomats with students of relevant higher education institutions was held. During the meeting, the Chairman of the Council of Young Diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia I. Z. Gagloev told the students and colleagues about the activities of the Council, particularly emphasising the role of the Council of Young Diplomats format in enhancing the role of the younger generation of diplomats in reforming the architecture of global governance.
Within the framework of the International Youth Festival, on the margins of which the IX Global Forum of Young Diplomats was held, a panel discussion on the topic "Leadership in a Multipolar World" was organised by MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Russian Znanie Society. The discussion was attended by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova; in her speech, she answered questions from the audience about the search for partners in contemporary international realities, as well as the role of students and young specialists in strengthening ties between countries.
Following the results of the IX Global Forum of Young Diplomats, a final document was adopted.
On 16 September, a session organised by MGIMO University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Russian Znanie Society was held on the topic "The New Architecture of the World: an Open Dialogue with S.V. Lavrov", during which the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov spoke about the potential contribution of young diplomats and specialists from different countries to the formation of a multipolar and just world. Lavrov also took part in the closing ceremony of the International Youth Festival, paying particular attention to the fact that this event contributes to the strengthening of effective and creative interaction of young people from various regions of the world.
In his speech, Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov, in particular, stated:
"I am convinced that the bonds of friendship that have been established here will be preserved in your further activities, that you will continue to promote the common interests that unite young people throughout the world: the desire for stability, the desire for success, the desire to start a family and the desire to do good deeds."
