The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia has taken note of the statements of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who has in fact openly voiced Europe's intention to engage in political blackmail against the Syrian authorities in the context of revising relations with South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
We regard such statements as a gross violation of the norms of international law and interference in the internal affairs and sovereign decisions of independent states. Ms. von der Leyen, by her actions, is eroding the foundations of democracy and traditional European values, which have been completely forgotten.
Unfortunately, for "enlightened Europe", the policy of double standards and the propaganda of the ideologues and followers of nazism are more important. The peoples of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, having defended their right to life at the cost of blood and enormous losses, have made their choice, and it is not for Ms. von der Leyen and Europe to dictate what their future should be.
