On October 1, 2025, a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov was held in Sochi.
During the meeting, which run in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, the Foreign Ministers discussed relevant issues of the bilateral cooperation, ways of improvement of the foreign policy coordination, key points of interaction in addressing regional and international affairs, including the participation in the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia.
Akhsar Dzhioev emphasized that South Ossetia is grateful to the Russian Federation for the assistance in solving social and economic problems of the young state, for promoting its positions in international arena, maintaining peace and stability on the South Ossetian land. On behalf of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev, Akhsar Dzhioev conveyed greetings to Sergey Lavrov, having noted his contribution to the defending of interests of the Republic.
Sergey Lavrov congratulated the people of South Ossetia with the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic and emphasized that the Russian Federation, a close friend and ally to South Ossetia, would furtherrender every possible assistance to the Republic in maintaining its security, in spreading the truth about the events of the year 2008 and subsequent events among the global community and in increasing the number of foreign partners.
The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Andrey Tskhovrebov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation Znaur Gassiev and Head of the State Protocol Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Olesya Kadzhaeva participated in the meeting.
