The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia extended a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in connection with the 17th anniversary of the tragic events of August 2008.
The note, in particular, reads:
“The events of August 2008 will forever remain in the history as a fact of criminal barbaric aggression of Georgia against civilian population of South Ossetia. Having shown courage and fortitude in the most difficult time, the people of South Ossetia gave decent response to those challenges that they were facing. Today we commemorate with deep respect all those who at the cost of their lives preserved peace and stability for further generations.
On this memorable day the Republic of Abkhazia expresses solidarity with the fraternal people of South Ossetia and shares the grief for the victims of the Five-day war of August 2008.”
