On 14 May, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia A.M. Dzhioev took part in a solemn meeting dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of Vladislav Ardzinba, an outstanding statesman and political figure, the first President of Abkhazia. The event was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Republic of South Ossetia.
The event was attended by the President of South Ossetia A. E. Gagloev, Chairman of the Government of South Ossetia K. Kh. Dzhussoev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to South Ossetia M. M. Kulakhmetov, Ex-Presidents of South Ossetia L. A. Chibirov and L. Kh. Tibilov, Ex-Ministers of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia M. K. Dzhioev and D. N. Medoev, representatives of ministries and departments of the Republic, scientific intelligentsia, participants of the Abkhazian Patriotic War from South Ossetia.
The event was opened by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Abkhazia to South Ossetia Alan Elbakiev, who noted that Vladislav Ardzinba had a great contribution to the formation of the modern Abkhazian state; he became the symbol of the national liberation movement and the victory of the Abkhaz people in the Patriotic War of 1992-93.
Alan Gagloev noted in his speech that the life path of Vladislav Ardzinba is an example of selfless service of a national leader to his people, an inspiring example of unbending courage and unwavering faith in the righteous cause of the people, emphasizing that his name is forever inscribed with golden letters in the history of not only his native Abkhazia, but the entire Caucasus.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Murat Dzhioev and the first President of South Ossetia Ludwig Chibirov shared their memories of the first President of Abkhazia. The participants of the event voiced many kind words about Vladislav Ardzinba.
