On a working meeting with the Co-Chairs of the GID on Security and Stability in Trascaucasia

A working meeting of the South Ossetian delegation at the GID with the Co-chairs of the Discussions, representing the EU, the OSCE and the UN, took place in Tskhinval on February 11.

The agenda the two working groups – on security and on humanitarian issues, of forthcoming 63rd round of the Discussions, scheduled for March 4-5, was discussed during the meeting.

The participants reconfirmed the key objective of the Discussions – maintaining lasting security in the region and excluding the possibility of the resumption of hostilities.

The regular and effective work within the framework of IPRM, including the running “hot line”, which allows responding promptly to emerging problems, was positively assessed.

Serious attention has been drawn to humanitarian problems, first of all to the search of missing citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia and to the problems of the Ossetians, natives of the Kazbeg region (Tyrsygom).

The parties marked the importance of preserving the format for maintaining security and stability in the region and expressed readiness to fruitful and constructive work in framework of the forthcoming round.
