On September 17, 14 years ago, the Treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance was signed between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation.
The signing of the Treaty gave start to the formation of a legal framework for the bilateral relations, basing on international law, and outlined guidelines for their long-term development.
For the time being the document plays important role in the bilateral relations, regulating key aspects of the strategic South Ossetian-Russian cooperation.
