Ratification of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia was discussed at a regular session of the South Ossetian Parliament on November 2. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Dmitrii Medoev participated in the session as an official representative of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia.
The Parliament approved the draft law containing an article on ratification of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation signed by the President of South Ossetia Anatolii Bibilov and the President of Syria Bashar Assad in Damascus on July 23, 2018.
The document has a significant potential for further strengthening peace and stability. Alongside with this the Treaty stipulates the aspiration to develop cooperation in trade, economy, science and technology, as well as in social, humanitarian, cultural and other areas.
