May 29, 1992 is a special date in the heroic history of the people of South Ossetia.
At the height of the Georgian military aggression against South Ossetia the Supreme Council of the Republic of South Ossetia adopted the Act of Declaration of Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia 26 years ago on this day.
Adoption of the Act of Declaration of Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia was anticipated by a long-lasting struggle of the people of South Ossetia against Georgian nationalism, which aimed at extermination or total expulsion of the Ossetians from their Motherland, and by consistent, legally checked steps, aimed at legal formation of the state, which was created in accordance with the will of the nation.
